NHBW Health Wellness programs address disparities that exist in the U.S. healthcare system. NHBW Joliet Chapter’s approach is to aid our community in reducing some of these health disparities. Each year we campaign to help families improve their health by increasing awareness of their health status, motivate behavior changes by disseminating information at workshops, health fairs and events, and encouraging them to pledge to share the information with others. All health programs are provided to the community at no cost.
Historically, we have provided the following health programs:
Prescription subsidy program
Free Vision Screening & Eyeglasses
Menopause Awareness
Hook-Up Gift of Life blood drive
HIV/AIDS Information and Testing
Flu Prevention Education Program
We continue to provide health care information and services to the Will County community through periodically reviewing the MAPP (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships) Report for information regarding health status, quality of life, and behavior risk factors in the community. Below are our ongoing health initiatives:
Cancer Awareness - Breast Cancer, Colon, Prostate Screening, etc.
Mental Health Awareness – Depression, Bipolar Disease, Schizophrenia, etc.
Heart Disease
Obesity
